Gullwing Trailers is the first UK manufacturer of all aluminium trailers for the marine market in Europe. For many years other countries, such as the USA and Australia, have chosen to build their trailers in aluminium for its superior corrosion resistance and weight characteristics compared to galvanised steel.

Gullwing have spent years helping to develop a complete extruded aluminium system specifically for use in marine trailer construction. First we looked at how trailers in the UK were being built, assessing their design, serviceabilty and suitability for purpose. Then we consulted with boat owners and trailer users to find out their experiences and to hear their suggestions.

Then we set about designing out the weak points we found and, for quality control and supply continuity reasons, arranging for manufacture of vital components such as wobble rollers in the UK or Europe - previously, for example, many of the rollers used on UK trailers came from China.

Among our innovations is the Gullwing RollerRamp® system - a new method of mounting and using rollers on trailers, providing easy launching and recovery in all situations, providing support right along the hull length and, not least, providing an easy and cost effective conversion for many existing bunk type trailers to a full roller system.

The result is a range of marine trailers, from 3 to 7 metres in length, for gross weights up to 3500kg, manufactured using immensely strong but lightweight extruded aluminium. Gullwing trailers are now constructed entirely without use of U-bolts, a notorious weak point for rust and corrosion, as every conventional trailer owner will testify. The light weight of a Gullwing chassis makes towing and handling much easier - it also means more boat can be carried within the 750kg weight limit for unbraked trailers. Every component on a Gullwing trailer has been selected for quality and we believe you will not find better anywhere.
